These are some photos of some of the other reptiles that I keep. The turtles are not kept for breeding purposes to sell offspring, they are merely pets that I enjoy keeping.

8/28/10 1st box turtle hatched out!!! This little guy looks perfect no irregular or deformed scutes. He's pretty shy but I'm sure he will warm up in time.

This is PT and Gertrude my diamondback terrapin friends, they are like underwater puppies. (PT is short for "People Turtle" because my wife said that he is so socialable and friendly to people that he is like a people person only a turtle.....shrug) They are 3yrs old now and hopefully will breed next spring

This is a photo above of one of my "nerdie" 3-stripe mud turtles.

4/29/10 Found the sand disturbed in the basking area, so I dug down and found 6 good looking eggs laid by the 3-striped mud turtle female.

7/22/10 Tonight I was talking on the phone to my friend Lee about ball pythons, other snakes, fish and aquarium plants ect. ect. and when we started the conversation I noticed one of the eggs were cracked, ....half hour later I checked back and this little fellow was already out and about.
This is the smallest and cutest turtle that I have personally hatched out. Look at how tiny the little feet are, this tiny little one is already full of spunk and ready to take on the world.

7/28/10 The last egg of the 6 eggs hatched out tonight, ironically on my birthday, so happy birthday to these little guys and to me, lol
Pics of the proud parents below.

8/29/10 All 4 eggs from the second clutch hatched, making 10 for 10 on the year for the 3-stripes. Below is a photo with the lasted clutch and the first one to show how much the first set of hatchlings have grown in a month.

Third clutch of 2010, 4 more eggs laid on 9/04/2010, looks like we might have some Holloween babies. This makes 14 eggs from the female this summer.

Heres the parents

This photo above is some of the my box turtles. They live outside in pens in the summer and brumate for 7 months in the basement in the basement. I have a group of easterns and a group of 3-toed.
7/24/10  1st clutch of box turtle eggs!!! Today I was pulling some weeds that were getting out of control in the new box turtle pen and when I pulled up a big clump of crabgrass there was a nest of eggs under it. There is 4 eggs that candled with good veins and one that I am pretty sure is a dud because it is dented in and I couldn't see any veins, but I will give it a week to be sure. Hopefully the other 4 will hatch out in a couple months, can't wait to see the buggers, it's been a long time since I have had hatchling box turtles, ironically my 3 stripe mud turtle eggs are hatching this weekend two out of the egg so far and 4 more to go!!!

7/26/2010 Found another clutch of box turtle eggs today, 4 good eggs that all candled with veins, whoo hoo!!!

Spring of 2010, Building a new outdoor pen for the boxies around the small pond with a shallow sloping gravel end.
The start of day one.

Later in the day after the first course was laid using scalloped edging sunk in to ground level to prevent digging under the outer wall.
The end of day one and most of the first course of the wall is set, my back is tired so will have to continue the first course and then hopefully start the second course tomarrow.

The second course of blocks is done and caps on the corners to prevent climbing out. Now I just need to add some more mulch and logs and other hide spots to the right side.

Decided to add caps all the way around just to be safe that they can't climb out

4/29/10- I did my good deed for the day and for the reptile Gods
I was on my way to work today and saw this anchient blandings turtle about to cross the highway to get to a lake, I pulled over and helped it get across the highway safely, took a couple pics and then released her down in the ditch by the lake. She, (assuming it was a big female) was either just out of brumation or nesting, but she would have surely been hit by a car while crossing the road in rush hour morning traffic if I wouldn't have helped her across the road. By the looks of her shell she is very old and hopefully she has made lots of babies and will be able to make lots more in the future to counter all the road casualties. The blandings turtle used to be a common siting for me when I was a kid but seeing one now is a rare treat, so I felt very blessed just to see one and help it across the road.
My reward for the good deed was that same night I found that my 3-stripe mud turtle female had laid 6 good looking little eggs on 4/29/10. see above

Heres a video of the ponds in our backyard.
