Breeder Photos
It's the first week in April 2013 so I thought I would take some pictures of some pregnant girls. Hopefully they will have lots of babies.

Bucket of males- I've been putting the adult garters outdoors in large screened in cages in the summer on the weekends so they can get some sunshine, fresh air and exercise. They seem to enjoy the time outside and I look at it as charging their batteries for the next breeding season. I put females in one cage and the males in the other, so when I was moving the males outsided in a five gallon bucket I took the oportunity to get a group photo of the bucket of males. The females are too big to all fit in a bucket, not to mention they can lauch themselves out quite easily and quickly.
One of my female California red-sided garters, her belly is bright blue
This girl is HOT! She is a erythristic flame het albino
A nice flame female
This is a smoking hot erythristic het Mohr anerythristic, nothing but black and red
This is a gorgeous California red-sided male
This is a T.radix that is het for anery, axanthic, albino, red radix, snow, and blizzard, she is going to make one heck of a breeder.
This is a melanistic eastern female-the melanistic is a solid black bodied snake but as you can see there is some white and tan on the chin, face, and neck.
Erythristic flame eastern female het for albino- it doesn't get much hotter than this snake, she looks like she has been barbecued in hot sauce.
Hoping these chicago garter girls are gravid as the one is very hypo looking (lacking black) and they were both breed by the crazy hot looking green axanthic male.
and a shot of the male that bred the girls above
Hoping this paradox florida albino is gravid who was bred by the super red hot erythrisitc/flame male, this will create a new line of flames and albino flames
This granite checkered is off feed now so hoping she is close to having babies
Ahhh, spring is here at last! Most of my adults are out of brumation now. Here are a few samples of pairs that have locked up so far.
I think this snake qualifies as an anerythristic or axanthic type. Either way she is one of my personal favorites in my collection. She is the Mohr anerythristic female that I aquired as a baby from Jeff Mohr, Jeff was the guy who caught the original anerythristic, this snake was produced however by Scott Felzer in a breeding loan between Jeff and Scott. When Jeff recieved his half of the litter he decided that he didn't want to bother with the project, so I purchased his half of the litter from him in 2009. A good portion of the litter did not make it, but this female and her two ery/flame brothers did. I have been breeding her brothers to lots of my females this year, among them the albino Florida. I believe Scott has a single female that survived the litter that from talking to him on the phone has a similar look to this female. She is spectacular in person and she has a blueish/gray belly with lots of black freckles. She has been bred recently so I am hoping that she will produce some babies here in a couple months.

The female is a Nebraska albino radix her mother was also het Xmas albino and het anerythristic, her father was an Iowa snow so she is essentially het for Iowa snow and Nebraska snow. The male is the Dodge Co. albino, so this breeding will confirm if his albino type is compatible with either the Iowa albino type (T-) or the Nebraska albino type (T+). I'm guessing he will prove to be compatible with the Nebraska type (T+). If all the babies are normals then they would be possibly het for a new albino type. These two snakes definately have a different look, especially evident in the close shot from above.

All the breeders are now in the refrigerator for winter 2010-2011 winter brumation
This gallery contains photos of some of the breeders (not all breeders are shown)
Just noticed today that my female Surf City Erythristic isn't really all that red (which is why I haven't really paid much attention to her this summer, lol) but man she has a wiked reduced granite pattern, so now I am super excited about breeding her this spring. She will be 2 yrs old this spring and has really put on some size this summer. I'm thinking she has tremendous potiential now!!!
The pics above contain my favorite 4 breeder males, hopefully the boys will get r' done this spring.
The blue axanthic plains, the green axanthic chicago garter, red/orange erythristic flame eastern, and the purple silver eastern.
Thamnophis parietalis (red-sided) worlds first snow and her albino sister. These girls are growing fast and should breed spring of 2010.

Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis (Silver eastern morph)- this is undoubtedly one of if not the hottest morphs, this male along with 12 het silvers, these were aquired from Scott Felzer in 2009, and in our oppinion is one of the most exciting new morphs. There are limited numbers of silvers in existance, and there will undoubtedly be some interesting combos produced in combination with this morph in the future. It appears to be a simple recessive gene and appears to reduce melanin as well as xathins and erythrins. This will be one of my top priority breeding projects in the next few years.
Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis (Eastern)
Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis (New York paradox albino x Florida erythristic double hets) this is an exciting new project and if all goes well we should produce in spring 2010 a new line of erythristic albinos that will be different and likely not compatible with the Shuett albino. Incidentally Scott Felzer produced a very small litter of these double hets, the original paradox albino has died, and Scott has kept the only other pair in the US, so it is extremely important that we keep this line going.
Thamnophis marcianus (Granite Checkered morph)- a relatively new recessive trait, I will be breeding this trait to combine with albino and hypo checkered morphs.
Thamnophis marcianus (Hypo Checkered)-this is a relatively new morph that is a co-dominant trait, which seems to make the yellow-tan background brighter and cleaner, as well as making the black checkers crisper. I will be crossing this with the granite with the hope of producing a bighter yellow granite.
Thamnophis sirtalis semifasciatus (Chicago garter-Axanthic morph) This is one of my newer aquisitions along with this snake I also aquired a golden morph of the Chicago garter, not completely certain of the sexes I put the two togather so fingers crossed, although they are a bit on the small size, however this a smaller sub-species of sirtalis, this sub-species is most noted for it's pronounced barring which is evident in the photo of this Axanthic morph specimen.
